A 26-year-old man is dead after he allegedly attempted to enter a home in St. Albans, Queens, and had a confrontation with its occupants.

On Monday around 2:45 a.m., police officers responded to a 911 call of a burglary in progress at a home on Williamson Avenue, the NYPD said.

Upon arrival, officers observed the 26-year-old male with trauma to the head and a stab wound to the torso. EMS responded d transported the male to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.

The man -- who first knocked on the door then kicked it down -- had been confronted by a 16-year-old man, who summoned his 27-year-old brother, The Daily News reported. The brothers proceeded to use a baseball bat and possibly a knife against the man. The fight then spilled into the streets, before the man was transported to the hospital.

The brothers were questioned by police, but it was unclear if they would be charged.
