NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – All Long Island University campuses will be closed on Thursday due to a threat made against the school, officials say.

In a statement posted on their websites, LIU says the FBI advised the University of a “non-specific threat they do not deem credible,” but they're being extra careful in light of the recent mass shooting tragedies in Texas and Ohio.

"All University campuses will be closed today, August 8th. Yesterday, the FBI advised the University of a non-specific threat that they do not deem credible. However, the University has chosen to act with an abundance of caution in light of recent tragedies in Texas and Ohio.  All student and employee residents will maintain access to campus housing.  Please continue checking your e-mail and mobile devices for additional information."

LIU officials added that all students and employees who live on campus will still have access to their housing.

The university has a campus in Brooklyn and Brookville, Long Island and is encouraging students and staff to check their school email Thursday for additional information.
