NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An eight-month-old girl who fell on the subway tracks Thursday at an Upper West Side subway station is lucky to be alive.

The incident happened at the 72nd Street-Broadway stop around 9:20 a.m.

Police believe the stroller's lock malfunctioned, and it then rolled away from the tot's father, and the girl fell onto the tracks.

Two people then jumped on the tracks and retrieved the girl.

She only suffered a small bump on the back of her head, police said.

She was taken to Lennox Hill Hospital for treatment, according to the FDNY.
