NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are looking for the robber who forced his way into a Bronx apartment and repeatedly slashed an older man with a butcher knife before running off with his money.

The 73-year-old victim, who CBS 2 reports is a Navy veteran, got a knock at his home on East 175th Street, near Crotona Park North in Tremont, a couple weeks ago.

Police say when he opened his door, the robber pushed his way in, forced him in a chair and slashed his arms with a butcher knife while demanding cash.

"He kept saying he wanted the money, he wanted the money," the victim told CBS 2.

The thief eventually snatched $2,000 from under a mattress, cops say. He also stole the victim's phones so he couldn't call police, according to CBS 2.

The NYPD released video of the suspect this weekend.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
