7 NYPD precincts have recorded 0 shootings so far this year: report

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Seven of New York City’s 77 NYPD precincts haven’t logged any shootings so far this year, according to a report. 

The NYPD on Monday said shooting incidents have spiked by 72 percent this year compared to last year, but a New York Post analysis of police data found that the following seven precincts hadn’t reported any shootings as of Saturday:

  • The 6th Precinct in Greenwich Village
  • The 10th Precinct in Chelsea
  • The 14th Precinct in the Garment District
  • The 17th Precinct in Midtown Manhattan
  • The 66th Precinct in Borough Park
  • The 68th Precinct in Bay Ridge
  • The 123rd Precinct on Staten Island

“Those are precincts where nothing really happens,” a police source told the outlet. “Some are business districts. Others are rich white areas.”
