6-month-old boy dead in Brooklyn after NYPD respond to report of unconscious infant

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A six-month-old infant was pronounced dead after officers responded to a call and found him unconscious in a Brooklyn building, police said Wednesday afternoon.

Police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious infant in an apartment building at 2950 West 24th Street in Coney Island at 5:34 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Officers found FDNY personnel giving aid to a 6-month-old boy in the apartment’s living room.

EMS took the child to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The child has been identified as Carlos J. Ruiz said police.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
