NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The death of a little boy in Queens last summer has led to murder charges.

Police say 11-month-old Jeremiah Callaghan was killed by his 29-year-old step-grandmother Shanica Callaghan.

Neither the court papers nor the police have elaborated on what she allegedly did to cause the death. Queens court papers say the boy was suffocated -- he had a fractured skull, traumatic brain injury, and a detached retina.

Court papers say he was being cared for by Shanica, that she fed him and tried to burp him, and that he began vomiting.

It all happened last August 31. He was rushed to a hospital, put on a ventilator and died on September 6.

Shanica has been charged with murder and held without bail.
