NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- It was a rough ride for the city's straphangers Monday.

The MTA announced Monday afternoon, at the height of the afternoon rush the following:

-- 2, 3, 4, 5 trains are "severely disrupted by switch problems at Franklin Ave. and while NYPD responds to a customer who assaulted a conductor at Borough Hall. " the MTA said. "We strongly suggest you take a lettered train."

-- 2, 5 train service suspended in Brooklyn (southbound 2 trains are ending at South Ferry; southbound 5 trains are ending at Bowling Green)

--F train service suspended in both directions south of Kings Highway because of a switch problem.

Earlier, the MTA said northbound 3 trains were delayed in Brooklyn "because someone assaulted a conductor" at Borough Hall.

Service on the lines was fully restored by Tuesday morning.

"We apologize for these service disruptions tonight, but please know that we're working as hard as we can to keep service moving and get you home as quickly as possible," the MTA tweeted.

The service disruptions follow the suspension of many lines in Manhattan Friday night at the height of the afternoon rush.
