2 men hospitalized after dispute escalates to gunfire in the Bronx: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was shot after a verbal dispute in the Bronx ended in gunfire Thursday afternoon, police say.

According to police, a 39-year-old man was shot twice in the thigh by a 23-year-old man around 2:30 p.m. at Elliot Place and Walton Avenue in the Mount Eden section.

The shooter was apprehended on the scene, officials say.

The alleged gunman suffered injuries to his head in the initial dispute. 

Both men were transported to Lincoln Hospital and are expected to survive.

An investigation remains ongoing. 

Authorities recovered two firearms and ballistics.

A 22-year-old person of interest was also taken into custody, officials said.
