NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two EMTs have been hospitalized in critical condition after each suffered unrelated "medical episodes" while at the same scene on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in Queens Thursday afternoon, officials confirm to 1010 WINS.

Officials said EMT Liam Gliname was driving an empty ambulance on the BQE. He suffered a stroke and veered off the road, causing a minor accident. He is in critical but stable condition.

An ambulance was sent to help him. The EMT driving that ambulance, Lt. Raymond Wang, suffered an aortic aneurysm while treating Gliname. He is in critical condition and fighting for his life.

Both men were transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.
