2 Dogs, 7 kittens rescued from overheating SUV

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two dogs and seven kittens were rescued from an overheating SUV in front of a Manhattan animal rescue Saturday morning.

Employees at the rescue, Bideawee, said they saw the animals inside the locked Jeep outside their building by the FDR Drive and called the police.

Officers said the animals were most likely left there on purpose so they could be found.

A window on the Jeep was cracked open slightly and the items in the car made it appear as if someone was living in it, police said.

NYPD officers were able to gain entry to the vehicle and free the animals.

One rescue worker told ABC 7 News that the dogs and kittens were in “very good condition.”

It’s unclear if the person who the SUV is registered to is the same person who left the animals.

There was no word on if the person who did this will face animal cruelty charges.
