NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 19-year-old girl was the victim of a random subway attack in the Bronx on Wednesday night.

Police say shortly before 10 p.m., the teen was on the on the southbound 6 train inside the Brook Avenue station, near East 138th Street and Book Avenue in the Mott Haven section when she was attacked.

A man officials believe to be in his late teens or early 20s allegedly began accosting the teen, ultimately slashing her in the face, forehead and hand with an unknown object.

Authorities say the suspect fled the train car on foot when the train doors opened and exited the station to parts unknown, with the weapon in hand, and is still on the loose.

Officials later released a video of the suspect seen running down a street.

The victim told police she does not know the suspect and was taken to Lincoln Hospital where she was treated for her wounds.

Police have not recovered a weapon and are still gathering surveillance and other information as the investigation continues.
