12-year-old boy fatally struck by NJ officer

FAIR LAWN, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A 12-year-old boy was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a Bergen County Sheriff’s officer in Fair Lawn on Sunday night, police say.

According to Sgt. Brian Metzler, the victim was walking with his brother and two of their friends on Route 208 south near Fair Lawn Avenue around 9 p.m.

The victim's name has not been released.

The officer driving the vehicle was identified as Michael Sansevere. He was taken to a nearby hospital.
