CORONAVIRUS ON LONG ISLAND: 5,545 total cases, 37 deaths; Nassau 3,285 cases; Suffolk 2,260 total cases

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There are 5,545 coronavirus cases on Long Island, officials said Wednesday.


    Suffolk County has 2,260 positive cases with 20 deaths reported.


    Nassau County Executive Laura Curran reported 116 more positive cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. The county total climbed to 3,285.

    A significant number of the positive cases reported have already been resolved, Curran said.

    Curran also reported seven new deaths in the county, brining the death toll to 17. 

    One of the deaths resided at A. Holly Patterson Extended Care in Uniondale.

    There are currently 10 cases in critical condition, according to Curran.

    Curran also reported that 33 members of the police department have tested positive for coronavirus. 

    40 additional members of the police department are currently in quarantine awaiting results and 40 others are in quarantine because someone in their household has tested positive.

    Curran also reported that four corrections officers and one deputy sheriff have tested positive.
