April 26, 2018 - 11:22 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A panel of community leaders gathered in Astoria earlier this month to discuss the creation and continued growth of the Kaufman Arts District.

1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa and Rob Walsh were joined by Kaufman Astoria Studios President Hal Rosenbluth, Steven Pedigo the Director of the NYU Schack Institute Urban Lab, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts Principal Gideon Frankel, and arts administrator and educator Amy Harrison. Catch up on everything discussed at this special event with the videos below.

The Kaufman Arts District Is Up And Coming:  Rosenbluth says there are stores in the area for every occasion. He says he’s created a place where the community can find everything it needs.

Comparing A Small Community To Manhattan: “Not all growth is created equal,” Pedigo says. He and others want to work to help smaller parts of the community achieve something great as a whole.

Testimonials From Educators: Frankel and Harrison having a school in the district creates opportunities for students. For Harrison, the community was a place for her and her dancers to call home.

Establishing Expectations: Rosenbluth lays out his expectations for the district, and what kind of jobs will be created.
