NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One Amtrak employee is dead and 2 others injured after an explosion at an Amtrak substation late Thursday morning in the Bronx.

"We are deeply saddened to report the death of an Amtrak employee," Amtrak said in a statement to 1010 WINS. "The incident happened at approximately 11:05 a.m. at a substation just outside of New York City. There are reports of two additional nonlife-threatening employee injuries. Trains are being delayed through the area as local authorities respond. A full investigation is underway."

Amtrak is holding trains at New York Penn Station due to police activity.

Other trains out of Connecticut including Stamford and New Haven are being held as well.
